Minor Amendment to RRC's Health and Safety Law & Case Law Guide

We would like to advise you of the following amendments to RRC's Health and Safety Law & Case Law Guide.

In the entry for the Fatal Accidents Act 1976, please replace subsection 3 of section 1A: Bereavement, with the following:

Subject to (5) below, the sum to be awarded for damages under this section shall be £10,000. (This sum was increased from £7,500 to £10,000 by the Damages for Bereavement (Variation of Sum) (England and Wales) Order 2002 (SI 2002/644) .)

In the entry for the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 , under the heading 'Amending Regulations', please add the following:

The Management of Health and Safety at Work (Amendment) Regulations 2006

(SI 2006 No. 438)

In addition, the following is no longer applicable to Regulation 22:

Breach of duty imposed by these Regulations shall not confer a right of action in any civil proceedings insofar as that duty applies for the protection of persons not in his employment.
