Minor Amendment to a Law Guide Entry

We would like to advise you of an amendment to the wording of RRC's Health and Safety Law and Case Law Guide entry for the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998.

Regulation 9 should read as follows:

Thorough Examination and Inspection

Every employer shall ensure that before lifting equipment is put into service for the first time by him it is thoroughly examined for any defect unless either:

• new equipment (never before used) and which has a recent certificate of conformity (because the conformity process is deemed to have been a thorough examination and test)

Or

• other equipment which you have received from another undertaking (e.g. hired out, second-hand, etc.) and which has physical evidence (e.g. a test certificate) of a recent thorough examination being carried out.
